  The words to the song are below.

   Forgotten Days

Have a truly joyful Christmas;
and a safe and peaceful new year.

Christmas soon will have come and gone
   like all material things—
ephemeral phenomenon
      of one day;
and yet we often sing that song
   (full of birds and golden rings)
of how the feast is twelve days long
      not one day:
the other days are forgotten;
forgotten are the other days.

Those weeks of anticipation
   and dear decorating phase
are all for a celebration
      of one day.
The abundant preparation,
   all the songs of cheer and praise,
in the annual exultation
      of one day:
so many days are forgotten;
forgotten are the other days.

We sing of concord and good will
   and of peace for all mankind,
of sacrifice and the giving
      for one day;
yet conflict rages on earth still,
   and everywhere we find
the struggle to make a living
      past one day:
the other days are forgotten;
forgotten are the other days.

[instrumental break]

LetŐs sing of peace, an end to war,
   to a love for all mankind,
and hope the spirit last for more
      than one day:
too many days are forgotten;
forgotten are the other days.

Have a truly joyful Christmas;
and a safe and peaceful new year.
